Packing for mixed weather was a real challenge. I took a few options but I wanted to be organised and have complete outfits ready, that would work for whatever the weather!
I purchased a couple of things before we went but tried to keep the holiday outfit shopping to a minimum. The trench was my fave purchase – a vinted special!
Day One OOTD

Day 1’s outfit had layers, it was wet and windy at first but got more and more humid, until the blazer came off! I loved this outfit, felt very comfy the whole day and my leather blazer got a wear during the day! This was the only outfit I planned completely for the trip and it became a staple base as I wore my boots 3 more days and I wore the jeans and jumper again.
Day Two OOTD

Day 2’s OOTD was similar to day 1 as I wore the same jeans and my DM’s but we had to be savvy with packing because of limited space so I tried to work around repeating items of clothing. This was another fab outfit, wearing all black with a pop of pink kept it simple, and added colour without adding too much to my luggage.
Day Three OOTD

This outfit was perfect for the wet but warmer day we had. I’m glad I had layers to change out and this skirt was super comfy too. Midi skirts and trench coats are so good for that mixed autumnal weather. I repeated the jumper I wore the first day too, which space saved.
Day Four OOTD

Day 4’s was super simple, but so comfy. The zebra jacket is an absolute staple of mine. I couldn’t believe my luck when I found it on vinted! The top is M&S and a repeat from day 2 – I love the oversized collar! Again, another super comfy outfit which without the jacket is really simple but perfect for city exploring.
Day 5 was a fab outfit (pink midi skirt, black blazer, new balances and I even had a velvet bow in my hair!) but I didn’t manage to get a decent photo. I’ll pop the link to my day 5 tiktok here, just incase you’re intrigued and fancy seeing it!
I wore 5 completely different outfits by swapping out pieces and this made my suitcase lighter but didn’t make me feel like I was repeating too much. I did have a change of outfit for the night we went to see Chicago but other than that, I kept to the 5 days and minimised what I took as much as possible! If you’re heading to NYC in October, you’ll likely have similar weather so think midi skirt, cropped jumpers, a pair of jeans or long trousers, trainers/DM’s (will forever love my DM’s haha) and light jackets such as a trench coat or cropped jacket.
lots of love,
Han x
